Casino promotions come in about six shapes, endlessly re-costumed. Natalie’s beginner’s map: what each bonus type really is, who it suits, and the one number to check before touching any of them. (That number is nearly always the wagering multiplier — Jack’s guide does the deep maths.)
Welcome packages
Matched deposits (“100% up to $500”) spread over your first one to five deposits, usually with free spins stapled on. The biggest bonuses you’ll ever be offered — and the most heavily termed. Check wagering, max bet during wagering, and game weighting. Never deposit more than your planned bankroll to “unlock the full match”: the bonus should follow your budget, not lead it.
Reloads, cashback and free spins
Reloads are smaller welcome matches for existing players — same rules, gentler sizes. Cashback returns a slice of net losses (10–20% typically); the honest question is whether it’s real money or bonus funds with wagering — real-money cashback is the most player-friendly promo that exists. Free spins have a computable value that’s usually a coffee, not a windfall — the maths here.
VIP and loyalty programs
Points per bet, tiers, birthday bonuses, a “personal manager” past gold tier. Loyalty value is real for regular players but it’s a rebate on turnover — never a reason to increase it. The moment a program changes how much you play, it’s working on the house’s side of the table.
The 20-second bonus checklist
- Wagering x40 or less on bonus funds?
- Max cashout absent or generous?
- Max bet during wagering clearly stated?
- Your favourite games not on the excluded list?
Two or more “no” answers — play without the bonus. Declining a bonus is always allowed and often correct. Current verified offers live on the bonuses page.
— Natalie. The best bonus I ever took was the one I read first. The worst one taught me to.
